The music minds behind Two Step Inn tapped my sunburnt shoulder in late summer of 2022 with the news that they were starting a new kind of country music festival. Growing up in Central Texas myself, and living in Georgetown, I was over the moon they chose me to develop the festival’s identity and bring their brand to life.
With all the inspiration for the festival right in my own backyard, I spent the following weeks drawing, drawing, and redrawing everything swirling around in my head until Two Step Inn was staring back at me.
The colors, patterns, and illustrations are filled with little nods to Georgetown itself (hello, poppies!). The brand was designed to be both familiar and fresh. The illustration style is simple yet layered – bold enough to make noise on the festival grounds, but visually interesting enough to stand alone. This flexibility is also seen in the patterns – built to be pulled apart for individual moments or woven together to create an entirely new look that feels right at home with the rest of the brand. The color palette rides the same line: punchy and vibrant for those loud festival moments, but can be dialed down for a more laid-back day in the sun.
With the success of the festival (yee-yee!), I got another shoulder tap in the late summer of 2024 for a brand expansion. We added more illustrations, corner elements, and I began creating the official poster for Two Step Inn 2025.
